has anyone done or seen the selectable 2wd/4wd transfer case swap. they are claiming 30% fuel economy increase with this and it works the exact same as the original, but i dont see how you could that kind of fuel increase if the front end is permanently locked in..

 

I don't know anyone that has done the swap. Like you, I don't see how you could gain much in the mpg category by making this swap.

 

Don't know what your your working on, but my 1992 w/TH400 tranny was just a full time 242 - they made part time 242's in some old cherokees with the same dimensions, you might have to swap the input shaft to marry to the hummer tranny. I never made it selectable with my old 6.2 drivetrain, but I gained squat for mpg's with the cummins and the selectable case. that's my .02...
