My 2009 Hummer H3 Adventure 3.7 L will not start. It has power, Stinger connectors and a new battery. I hear a whirring noise but the engine does not crank.

guess. could be starter spinning but not engaging. dont know how it works,solenoid to pull in??
see if you can tell if it is the starter spinning.
voltage should drop slightly if starter is spinning,not as much as if it were engaged.

 

Sounds like possibly a bad solenoid, but I believe a new starter comes with the solenoid installed. You could remove the starter and take it to a local alternator/starter service for a check & rebuild.

A new ACDelco starter will run you about $200 at rock auto.
