Come and take part in the largest one-day volunteer event at Wharton State Forest. On Oct 28 2007 at 9:45 AM the 6th annual PINE BARRENS 4 WHEEL DRIVE CLEANUP will begin with a sign up at the Atsion Ranger station and conclude at the at the Pic-a-lilli restaurant where wings will be served and prizes awarded.
On our 5th anniversary, 200 men, women and children came out in force once again to help keep the pines clean. Every year we go out to clean up we notice less trash than the year before. Our first clean up we could have stayed out a week and not made a dent but now we can really see the fruit of our labor. YES there still is and always will be negligent people dumping stuff in the pines..YES cleaning up the pines is a job that is never finished.. But with your help WE HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE ..SO WE NEED ALL OF YOU OUT AGAIN THIS YEAR!

Last year over 100 Jeeps and 4x4's showed up at Wharton State Forest in New Jersey to help clean up refuse dumped there. We filled two 40 cubic yard trash containers with refuse collected in the park, got praised in the Burlington County Times and other news papers, we HELPED the forest service at Wharton and one of the LAST free places to wheel on the east coast. The event is good for our sport as it reinforces our dedication and respect for the land we wheel on and puts a POSITIVE spin on the 4 wheel drive community…

MuddyD; this is good stuff. If the offroading community pitches in to help and make a difference, we are also preseving out ability to continue wheeling at the same time. Win Win situation. Back to the top of the post she gos.
remember the tire at quater mile.... and the computers on apple pie hill..... and that cable... and the broken tow straps over by where you got stuck and we met up with the Ford guys.... there is always beer cans over by the railroad tracks.... shouldn't be hard to find 400-500lbs of trash....
