Thanks Doc. Keeps me from chasing ghosts. Lord, I miss today's when engines ran at 180. These temps, for an old guy like me, are scary.

BTW - love the quality of my AirDoc intake. Can't believe it took me so long to get one.

 

I would bet that before anyone had a temp problem that they never watched the gauge. Now after getting a new gauge or one high(ish) temp reading they watch it like a hawk. Then you obsess over every little rise in temp. As Doc said, 220 is very normal in the summer.

 

a few yrs back i logged temp from startup,then each mile till it leveled at 195 appx. it was a hot summer day. i idled, same 195.
i draped a blanket over the hood/grill, on driveway, waited till it stopped at appx 200, waited, got tired, it never hit 205.
mine now peaks at appx 188 since new rad was done,??? dont know why.
i assume my 195 t stat is going bad?? its the boss of temp.

gage never hit 1/2.
