I am installing a new 3 inch leveling kit it comes with the new torsion keys and a 3-inch spacer for the rear coil springs and shock extension brackets is there anything else I need to know

 

Did you buy the torsion key removal tool as well? I personally wouldn't use a C-clamp or other oddball methods out there. Spend the $35 and get the actual tool.


Also, new keys will level the truck in the front, raising the front around 3" if you place the bolts at the same length they were at with the old keys.


If you add 3" blocks to the rear, you will no longer be level as it will be raked again.

Adding the GM green keys brought my rig perfectly level

As you can see if I were to add 3" block to the rear the rig would then have the same rake to it as it did before the new keys.

 

yes I bought the kit that has the new torsion keys that has the removable tool that actually goes over the top of the crossmember and has two nuts the bolt it up tight and then it has the one bar and it did come with the shock extensions and the 3-inch blocks in the back but I'm just doing the front

 

I'm not sure if that tool will work, I thought that tool was for later year HD's?

 

I am looking for some good springs for me. Have you ever used some products from spring supplier Sterling Springs? My friend recommended me those but I am not sure about it. What do you think?

 

I've never installed different springs on any of my vehicles but I would assume they are all pretty much the same unless you are specifically ordering a certain type of spring.

Did the ride quality change w/ the green keys? It looks perfectly level.

Hotrod56, LoJac is correct about the torsion removal key. Spend the money. There is so much tension on the key that one slip could break bones or kill you.

 

Now that I have a Tech2 I realized that with rear air suspension I can modify the rear ride height by and couple of inches up or down if I wanted to. Just make a set of spacers for re-calibrating it either lower or higher that the standard. Just a thought that occurred to me is all. I know most prefer to rip the air suspension out and convert to springs in the rear in which case this idea would not work (as well as those who did not have the air ride to begin with).
