Lightbulb 2000 H1 Engine Modifications

Hey there,

I am just starting to modify my truck (2000 H1) and was looking for some advice on engine modifications.

looking to put a stage 4 predator motorports package currently in it (PCU, HO Injectors, HO fuel lifter pump, HP wastegate controller, exhaust, pmd isolator, etc) or an equivelant from Heath, Sin City, or Rubber Duck?

Anyone have feedback on these products and what they do for the truck? (HP, MPG, Torque)

Was wondering about possible propane or water or water/methanol injection to go with it?

Maybe a dual turbo setup (although I the space under my hood in running very low)?

Does anyone know of if this is worth it and what the best option/kit would be?

Does it have to go in the bed if it is propane or can it be mounted under the rails like the fuel tanks on the other side?

Any other options for getting around 22/28 MPG (other big diesel trucks get this mileage or better)

a 2wd/4wd selectable T-case will get you close to that mileage. H1s aren't designed for the high horsepower/speed mods. They are more about torque.

As you are one of the most knowledgabe people here (been reading alot) you woudl know this.

Woudl a 5 speed allison or the new allison variable tranny with the selectable t case work on the 6.5?

Also have you heard of anyone trying water/meth or any other injection types?

Does the Stage 4 predator or heath type kits have a good history of performance reliability?

Thanks for the info.

Not ttryinh to turn the rolling bread box into a economy car...more performance oriented. although mileage is always a plus.

Not sure you could make the electronics work between the Allison and 6.5 TD. ECM, BCM, harness differences would be tough to overcome. As far as the injection systems the best source may be to try Predator Motorsports. They could definitively answer all your questions. Josh or Ryan would be the guys to talk to.

As far as the Stage 4 kit I don't have personal knowledge as my trucks are stock when it comes to the engines. I have heard both positive and negative accounts. All of my dealings with Predator have been good as have the people I personally know that have dealt with them. I doubt anyone in the country has done more Duramax conversions than they have.

Do you know of anythign else that I can do to improve it or do you have any specific recommendations?

I have $6000 to work with in this one.

Got to hate budgets! LOL

Seems like I was quoted $2500.00 for the 2wd/4wd option. That may be the best bang for the buck for mpg increases. PM Hummech and ask his recommendations on the HP increase options. I think he will tell you that most of the options aren't worth it but he can explain the various options +/-.

So if I were to go with a steg 3 kit and a selectable t case that woudl make a difference.

I know it would increase MPG a little and that is great, but will it screw with my torque and performance alot? That is what is really important.

The 2wd/4wd option will only improve mileage. It won't have an impact on torque, horsepower or performance. I am not familiar enough with the Predator kits to tell you exactly what each will will do for you. They all are supposed to increase HP and torque. I'll see if I can scrounge up someone that has done one of the Predator upgrades to talk to you about it. Might also ask Josh for some contact info on customers with the upgrade you want.

Thanks alot. I will also look into finding a good T-Case that I can swap and see if I can find more information on maybe an Allison 5 as well.

Have you ever heard of anyone doing the water/meth injection thing? If ti works it should eliminate alot of the extra heat on the back side of the block removing that problem, but is also supposed to help out with power and performance?
