Default '06 vs '07 vs '08?

Hi everyone. I'm currently in the market for an H3. Curious to know if anyone has suggestions, experiences, knowledge etc of which year is best to purchase? If there is little to no difference I'd go with the less expensive option...obviously. Thank you.

When I was shopping for a new car back in early September, an H3 was the least expensive 4WD SUV available (thank God for $4 gas!). At that time, a new '09 H3 was selling in the high $20's to low $30's, and a new '08 was low to mid $20's. This was with employee pricing and all rebates/incentives applied. Curiously, used '07s and '06s were also selling in the low to mid $20's (though I found an '06 with about 50K miles for $18K). I wound up getting a base '08 for $21,900 - it just didn't make sense to buy used. After adding tax, title, license, and a set of dealer installed side steps, I paid $25K out the door. With the possible exception of leather seats, the base model has all the creature comforts that I would likely have opted for in a lesser car, so I'm happy with it. And, to me, the extra $$$ bling is kind of out of place on a Hummer. Obviously, YMMV.

(FWIW, they've recently upped the employee cash incentive to $7,000 on an '08, so I could have gotten it even cheaper if I had waited)

I suggest the '07. You get the 3.7 engine. They also moved the window controls on the armrest so they didn't get accidently bumped. I think this was a mid-year change. You may like the H3X luxury version as well.

Thanks for the info so far. Ive been told by many owners to get the 3.7L engine for its increased power and torque. The window controls is another good point.

Other than those two things has there been any changes made to the lineup? Transmission, steering, suspension, interior features, etc?

The 08 model has an added structure behind the two front tow rings. There is a cross brace behind the front bumper thatties the two frame rails together and thus strengthens the front end.

A couple of other things to consider. The '08 made side curtain air bags standard.

if you want the Adventure model, starting in '08 the Monsoon stereo became standard on the Adventure package. That means you get the sub-woofer and lose one rear storage compartment. Me, I'd rather have the storage & I don't get off on a whole lotta bass. If you don't want the Adv package, never mind.

The H3X came with the Monsoon Radio/CD player too. I removed mine and installed the Nav. System. Anyone interested in my old system?

The 07 has bigger tie rod ends as the 06 would get loose quicker. The 08 model (could have been late 07) the door checks (thepart that keeps your door open)were changed to a much smoother and less noisy design. Also if you buy an 07 and up the powertrian warranty is 6 years or 100000 miles whichever comes first and it covers a lot of items. Depending on the amount you want to spend look at new as there is a lot of rebates on the h3 right now. I just bought a 09 and got gms plus $6500 in rebates so it was a easy choice for me. Steve
