Default 06 base H3, no 4x4.

I have a solid light on under each of the 3 selections, the transfer case goes in and out of low range when asked to, but the front axle is not doing anything.

I just bought this today and brought it home where I drove it slowly to the left on an angle up the front bank along the driveway. As the left rear wheel dropped and got light, it began to spin on the blacktop while the two fronts that still had weight on them did nothing on the grass embankment.

Give me some clues please, how bad is this? Is there a viscus coupling in the transfer case that wears out similar to the full time 4x4 S-10 Blazers?

To be clear, I get a solid light under the the buttons only one at a time and only after selecting that button. After pushing the button it flashes for a few seconds and then goes solid under that button. I do not have 3 lights on at one time.

Do you physically have a front driveshaft?

The reason I ask is it may have been removed by previous owner in an attempt to gain better fuel milage...

Yep. It's in there. It's something mechanical I would suspect. I'm being there is a differential or viscus coupling that is worn out in the transfer case. A transfer case is another $1500 or so from my quick search.

I'm a little upset in that the dealer didn't know this.

did you jack up all four corners and make sure that all tires are moving? just because you get a spinning tire when the truck is in a bind is nothing. Which setting did you have the 4x4 controls in while doing this??

I tested in all three button positions. Not any got the front to react. In every truck I've had over 30 years of driving, an off camber like that would have a front and a rear spin.

traction control will not let 1 wheel spin. braking action should stop it.huh?
the t case is a solid open diff, or locked in lock modes, no coupling.

if it moves in 4 hi the front is working. that is the left button.

in 4hi you will always get one wheel to spin, or at least I do, but apparently I must wheel mine hard enough to spin tires. I had one spin while backing off of a rock because it had the least traction, which was little because it was barely touching the ground
