Interesting fact about Mexico, Mexico Government owns Mexican oil, Mexico is about to complete their refinery to be self dependent. After our prices went up by our US private owned oil companies even before the inflated oil hit the pumps, Mexican President statement was their would not be price increase (and still hasn’t) in Mexico. While Big oil has us pitted blaming complaining red and blue and no one ever demands anything from them they keep profiting within and selling off all the product.
brought this up cause well i guess ill have to go get tacos and fill up south of the border.
to answer the question. Staying the course
Good info Sam. Kind of to my point... what's the incentive for oil companies to hurry up more production and reduce their profit margin when they can sell all they have to the highest bidder every day right now?
Back in 2008 we had similar discussions here on the then sky high oil/gas prices. One of the guys here was driving his H1 into work and somebody flipped him the bird yelling chit out the window about gas guzzler.... yada yada. His point was also interesting. He lived like 10 miles from work, so say he burned 2 gallons to from work that day. The idiot in the Toyota doing all the yelling might get better mpg, but if there round trip was 60 miles, they both burned the same amount of gas.
That summer I even had some Honda car driver talking smack when I was fueling a couple gallons in the old HD 1310cc Wide Glide Shovelhead before heading into work. Even that old beast gets better mpg than many cars. I told him I do not ride scooters, and would be embarrassed to drive the crap he was.
Survey of the horse's mouth..... oil industry execs...... done by Dallas Fed."Oil producers have been more focused on meeting the needs of investors than consumers, according to a survey released last week by the Dallas Federal Reserve. About 59% of the executives surveyed said investor pressure to preserve “capital discipline” amid high prices was the reason they weren’t pumping more, while fewer than 10% blamed government regulation."
Well I just got my 04 H2 so I'm sure not going to sell it. God willing in 2024 gas will start going back down and I will actually be able to take it out for some fun...
In the meantime I will work on it and fix the bugs, and every couple of months throw $30 worth of gas in it and drive it around the block.
Mine is resting in comfort for now. And yes now is a great time to catch up on all those issues that might need some attention. Stay the course, and let's all look forward to a return to sanity in 2024.
