New here and have a ?

https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hum...432900540.jpegSo I was told that the bolt at the bottom is a bushing that on all wheel drive vehicles. This bushing can cause CV axles to fail if this is bad. My question is what is it, how do I replace it and how hard is this to do?

Front differential cross member bushing.
Couple ways to fix it.
Buy a new cross member from GM $300+ easiest.
Replace all 3 of the differential the bushings with an Outfitter Design bushing kit https://www.outfitterdesign.com/do-i...shing-kit.html

Welcome to HF.

You posted your tech question in the WRONG section, so I moved it. The new member section is for : hello I am a new guy.... yada yada. It says in a thread stuck at the top, ... THIS SECTION IS NOT FOR TECH QUESTIONS!!

Tainter has it covered, but others might explain what it is for beyond holding the front diff in position for the front prop shaft out of the T case.

thanks so much for the reply.. I was wondering if this could cause CV axles to fail on a regular basis? Thanks in advance!

Shouldn't effect the half shafts. If you look at it as an entire assembly the movement of the front diff with a bad cross member bushing will rotate with the half shaft not bind them. A bad cross member bushing will effect the front prop shaft (drive shaft), diff front seal, output shaft and seal on the Tcase.

What do the left and right differential mounts look like?

What is failing with your half shafts? Street driven or OffRoad? aftermarket wheels? Any other front suspension mods? What is your front height frothed center hub to the bottom of the fender?
