It is because you have only ONE post, so like if you are a spamming troll you can't just sign up and message people. Typically you have no business messaging people when you have not tried to find answers/info out on the open board.

After you have so many (& don't ask because I don't know if it is 10, 20, 25, 50 ...) posts then you have messaging privileges.

While we are at it, do NOT dig up Old as Dirt Threads. READ: Old Threads/'Necro-Bumping'

 

10 posts unlocks the DMs.

 

Is there a place you can actually DM people?

 

It's called Private Message, and like the post ahead of yours says, you have to have posted at least 10 times before that feature is activated. Use the drop down menu from your profile in the upper right corner.

I would suggest you start a new thread and ask your question, skip direct contact for now.
