Hi everybody, i am a happy h2 (2005/105k miles) owner living in north texas.

i lived in cold NJ for over 10 yrs and moved to texas 5 yrs ago.

Recently i noticed smoke from the engine while driving and took straight to the dealer, who gave a quote for 23k (attached below), saying many parts are just rusted beyond repair, apparently due to the underneath being exposed to the cold weather.

Any suggestions are appreciated on due diligence, options to pull couple more years through.

Yes I have a suggestion. NEVER, and I mean NEVER, take any vehicle to a dealership for out of warranty service.

Unless you have leaks in all those lines/hoses, there is no reason to replace them.

Get under it, spray some degreaser/engine gunk an any crude and power wash it clean, then replace/repair what is needed.
