Default Power Tailgate Lock for H3T

Pop & Lock is sending me a power tailgate lock that we believe will work with the H3T. I will recieve it sometime next week. I'm going to be documenting the installation and any mods (if necessary) to make it work. I am not associated with them but for $103.52, it is a great deal if it works like we expect. I will keep you posted. If anyone else is interested, just reply to the thread.

I would be interested in how this could be done for $30. I have done searches on here for tailgate lock options and have come up with very little. Being that the tailgate does not come with a lock in it, I am curious how to add a lock and actuator for $30. Please share. Thanks.

Create your own lynch pin on the lock and add a $20 actuator. Wire it up to your passenger or driver side door locks and bam, tailgate lock.

Well I think the whole manufacturing a sturdy enough pin and a bracket to allow it to hold in place correctly would present a problem for many people.

I had enough time to install the power locking mechanism last night. The bracket that Pop and Lock designed fits easily and exactly to the latch. It is a simple but nice kit for the money. It comes with everything that you would need, inlcuding the bracket, power locking mechanism, all the wiring, relay, and easy to follow instructions. I got the power lock installed in under 30 minutes last night. I have not finished the wiring yet, but no reason to think that it will be difficult or time consuming. I have never installed one of these before, but I would think the average person could install the whole thing in under an hour.

I highly recommend it. For just over $100 it offers very convenient locking and unlocking of the tailgate in conjunction with the doors. Everyone with a bed cover would probably want one if they knew about it. If you call Pop and Lock, order the PL8120Q for the H3T. You have to mention the H3T because the bracket they give you is slightly different than the standard one.

Glad it worked out for ya. I would have put a lock in the tailgate if it wasnt for the snugtop.

I wish they had this out when I got my bed cover. Did you happen to take any pics I'd like to how different it is from their key lock I have, might consider swapping it out

I took pics, but once installed it looks no different than before it was installed. Everything is internal using the existing handle. You wouldn't know it was there. There is no key or exterior piece necessary.
