Default Will the L96 engine fit in an 06?

Looking at maybe trying to swap the i5 to an L96 6.0 Im not sure if it will actually fit my 06 engine compartment. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Update: 8/24
Thank you everyone for your comments i believe they are all valid.

This is a very tough choice i very much like my 06 it has the standard 5 speed + adventure package. It is spent its whole life in central California there is not a lick of rust on her.

The current 3.5 is not doing so hot i would rather invent the money into the 6.0

As far as money i will have to save to finish the job

you will need many H3 alpha parts that at this point will be unubtanium unless you have a donor alpha. so need an alpha to make an alpha.

Yes it will fit, although on an '06, you need to pound in the firewall.

It will and if you use the car intake you will get more clearance around the back.

the block will fit but there are other things that are needed from an alpha like motor mounts exhaust manifolds transmission member support and mount i depending on the setup on the donor engine you might also need some accessory brackets hoses to fit them in new locations and a larger radiator harness's ecu and many other things. at the end you will probably have invested between work time, lost time sourcing the puzzle pieces as much into it as buying an alpha which already comes with better differentials and is a run and drive. dont go by some internet forum just saying yeah it fits. i dont know your level of expertise but this can be a money hole project you wind up selling for pennies as a rolling chassis and 7 grand into it. i have seen it happen personally many times. 7 times to be exact. 81 corolla with a conquest engine conversion, a 84 mazda rx7 with a 350 swap, an 84 buick to national conversion, 92 honda civic track special gutted with 9" rear and roll cage, a 64 1/2 mustang conversion with at the time 84 svt mustang engine and suspension, a 74 Pontiac lemons that pretty much needed every piece of sheet metal replaced and a 86 Oldsmobile cutlas supreme with 442 and big block update. none of those projects ever got finished. they where not my projects. some of those projects started 12 years ago and are still in pieces most are gone and had to get sold for peanuts or led to divorces because it was taking all the time or money from the household. water bill not paid , mortgage backed up but there was enough to get new race heads from summit racing........

Way to vent, Bronx.. It's not that complicated to swap, yet I would never an '06.
Btw, the OP asked a simple question, and the answer is: YES.
Next question, we need to know the answer to: How much you willing to spend?

I swapped a 3.7L 07 Adventure for a 5.3L 09 Alpha Off road, never got grease on my fingers. That is how it is done.

If you want to dream about a V8 swap into an 06, that's OK, but you are also going to need the Alpha Oil Pan to clear the front suspension. By the time you get done working out all the bugs and hiccups, you would have been better served by selling the 06 and buying an Alpha.

Plus....I can't confirm but I read in an article when the Alpha came out they had to make revisions in the firewall for the 5.3 to fit.

I have a L96 in a 2006

No need to smash firewall just trim the sound insulation where the truck intake gets close. We also slid the motor forwards in the adapter motor mounts. Our swap is a little over the top being a L96 6.0L/ 6l90E and Np241 but we are into the swap at just under $10k at this point. Unless you are setup to do several swaps and have parts on hand, its much easier to buy an alpha.
