Hummer H3 For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.

What say you? Is it the tranny, transfer case, diffs?

Symptom: shift from 1st to 2nd produces an occasional clunk with a slight jerk; or, shift from 1st to 2nd shudders; and recently there’s slippage between 1st and 2nd and now 2nd and 3rd (no power but an increase in RPMs).

DONE Replaced all fluids and filters with manufacturers recommendations.

Symptons getting more frequent and it is worse when accelerating out of a right turn.

Your thoughts/experiences appreciated.

MOVED.... all H3 questions go in the H3 section.

Miles on the 3?????

Sounds like Auto Trans rebuild time to me? Not knowing miles limits my answer to a guess.

You have 2 choices: flush now, or replace the 4L60E!
Try flushing with Seafoam and replace the fluid with fresh

The ultimate disposition of my clunking transmission was to have it replaced. There was a GM notice that a spring and controls the fluid flow may wear - so I had it replaced at $95 labor/part and it did not work with the hope to avoid the replacment but ended up with a $3,700 Jasper replacement part+labor that includes a 3 year parts+labor warranty. 1 month later it seems fine.
