What all should i do to it?
Hey guys , Exposed here Im turning 16 in about a week and my father is deciding to give me his 2006 h3 , Instead of buying a new car he said i could spend 10,000$ and fix it up how i like , so i was wondering what all i should do to it . I know for a fact i want new rims / A touchscreen navigation system . The 2006 models did not come with that. What else should i do with 10,000$?
Thanks
Thanks
I'm 22, does your family want to adopt me?
To be honest, I really like the wheels that come with the H3, I'd add some big meaty 35" mud terrain tires, much better looking than bling bling imo. If you're dead set on new wheel's I wouldn't go over 20" and still go with 35" tires, but the tires get exponentially more expensive as you go up. This is something to consider when it's time for new ones, new 35" tires for 20" wheel's are going to run you about $400 each for a good brand.
35" Tires w/ OEM Wheels: $1,000-1,400
20" Wheels 35" Tires: $2,000-$2,500
I'd also add some accessories...
Brush Guard: $300
Air Intake: $180
High Flow Air Filter: $40-$50
Exhaust: $400-$650
PCM Tune: $150
Fuel Door: $100-$190
NFab Rock Sliders: $500
NFab Removable steps for sliders: $120ish? per pair
Tail Light Guards: $90
Tint: $140-$200
Alarm/Remote Start: $200-$1000 depending on how tricked out you want it
Tuff Country 4" Lift: $1400+ install
Off road lights: $200-500 for bar, $50-ish per light and time to wire it up
Leveling shocks and bump stops: $220, I'd do rear shocks too, $160, this is if you don't lift it
Gobi Rack: $1,000-$1,500 depending on model
HID Projectors: $350
New LED Tail Lights: $180
If you want to do a stereo system look for my posts in the Audio/Visual forum, lots of good info..... I have a Kenwood DNX9960 head unit with Garmin nav, best head unit I've ever owned after modding the software. The DNX9980 has replaced it now, but the only difference is built in HD radio without a module. If you don't care about HD radio you can probably pick up a DNX9960 for a good deal.
So lets see.....DNX9960: $950 Wiring Harness: $99 Antenna Adapter: $30
I dunno man, I'd do some crazy stuff with $10k to blow, then again I'd probably just go buy another motorcycle with the money instead....
Also, if you bling it out with all kinds of chrome trim I'll have your dad beat you.
If it were me? Lift, 20" Wheels 35" tires, offroad lights, roof rack, exhaust, air intake, head unit, rock sliders and boom, you'll be ****ting on all the other rich 16 year olds in their new Hondas, VW's, 3 Series BMW's, Audi's, Mitsubishi's, Subaru's and dropping panties quicker than you can get their numbers.
Seriously though, tell your dad to stop playing games and buy you an '06 H1 Alpha with the 6.0L Duramax Turbo Diesel!

When I was your age I worked until I couldn't stand to buy a Toronado Trofeo that leaked oil all over town. My parents are very wealthy business owners and always drove Mercedez, Lincolns, Cadillacs, etc. I had food on the table, clothes on my back, and a roof. If I want to play XBox or PS2 I had to go to my friends house.
Taught me values and made me the person I am today. I wasn't going to say anything but you said it first, open season!
First of all, don't kid yourself or try to convince us differently - you ARE spoiled. Enjoy it.
Second, please don't bling out that H3, too many of them out there already. Instead, do a standard off road setup, find a local group, and use it for what it was built for. Go wheeling, go camping.
Airdoc
PCM tune
exhaust
sliders
bumper (or brush guard which doesn't protect nearly as well)
roof rack (for when you carry 2 or 3 other people plus gear for a weekend camping trip)
Recovery gear
good set of tires (33s are fine, but you can go 35s if you really want)
Forget about the touchscreen navigation, wheels, and excess bling unless your goal is to spend as much of your dad's money as you can.
