If you have a sun roof then the drains for the sun roof could be clogged and because of how the car is designed water will generally run toward the front of your sunroof water trap. When this happens and the trap overflows then the water will along the top of your roof liner to the front post between your windshield and driver side door. From there the water runs down the inside of the post covering/molding and comes out along the bottom of your dashboard into the driver side foot area.

I also recommend you remove the grommet where the drain tube comes down and allows water to flow outside the body of the card and drill or cut the tip so it is 100% open, not pinched like the original design. After doing this it solved my water leak issues.
