Default Transfer case switch

Hi everyone. I have a 2006 H3 luxury with a bit over 160K and I got a SERV 4WD message a little bit ago and my mechanic is telling me it’s throwing code B2725 and that I should just change the transfer case switch. My dilemma is that there are two versions of this switch, one with locking rear axle and one without. The one with locking rear axle button is widely available at many part suppliers but the one that I need without locking rear axle is not only sparsely distributed but also 4 times the price at a range of $200.00 vs $50.00. Will the transfer case switch with the rear locker work for my vehicle even though it doesn’t have rear lockers? Part numbers 15800080 vs 15800081

the individual tiny push buttons can be salvaged from any junk electronics board/junkyard hummer/?? and replaced by a guy with solder experience for a few bucks. id check wiring for both types, could be ok...

Did you read the reviews? Seller has 30 day return policy! Did you need me to install it too?

nice switch for Hummer H3

My Hummer had issues with the OEM buttons , it didn't had the rear axle lock, but this one works perfectly

btw...thinking...the "tiny" buttons send signals to control circuits, transistors or relays. they dont do the actual switching and probably are not bad.just thinking.
if you are going in there you might just try jumping the switches and see what happens.
the mechanic may be guessing, with your money, or messing...

You on drugs? Why don't you try "jumping the switches and see what happens"?
B2725 code points to the switch. Simple fix.

the concept is , "if" a switch is bad,(unlikely), you can jump it to see if the function worlks.
i doubt that the switches are bad,but either the mechanic or i could be wrong. the only way ive ever tested switches is to simply jump them.
like if your brake lites dont come on ,you can jump the switch to see if they lite up huh...
a piece of wire takes the place of the metal switch contacts.
lets see what the fix is.
could be, might be switches!!

B2725-Active Transfer Case (ATC) Mode Switch Circuit Malfunction

B0790-Transfer Case Neutral Indicator Circuit Malfunction

I recently had my cab replaced due to a accident. Before I never had a issue with 4wd. But ever since I got it back have had these codes. Replaced the switch in the dash but nothing.

"Mode Switch Circuit Malfunction"...key word,
"circuit". switches plus the rest of the circuit, wires, connectore, relays, transistors...

then this.

"Replaced the switch in the dash but nothing."

most mechanics are not electrical pros...
