Default transfer case issue

i have a 2006,w/ adventure pkg.,6 sp manual... which i ordered new way back, it has now about 110,000 miles , this truck has been great, love it...normal issues ,thats about it......the craziest thing happened these last couple of days....i'll keep it short....i live here in bethlehem,pa., and a few days ago we had this major snow storm, i had just put on new tires, this is my 3rd set, nitto ridge grapplers, so i could not wait to use them, anyway, the day before the storm , i wanted to make sure the 4 wd hi lock and lo were working, so when i parked in my driveway, i switched it to 4hi lock and 4 lo,pulled forward, it worked, i switched it back to normal4, the light went to the normal 4 mode, but i didn't pull forward to make sure,.... anyway, the storm came and i went out to drive it, i went to pull out , it was in 4 lo, the light on the dash was showing normal 4 drive, i tried pushing 4 hi lock and 4 lo...nothing would work, the lights would blink, then stop, both 4hi lock and 4lo..and the 4 normal light would stay on.... ,it was stuck in 4 lo and the dash was showing 4 normal....i knew about the issues, plastic fork, transfer case motor( which i changed once already)..so,the next day, i started to work on it...i tried disconnecting the battery, driving in reverse for 30-40 feet, tapping the case motor, see if it was stuck( it was cold out), nothing worked.....so i took the transfer case motor off, left it connected, asked my wife to press the 4 hi lock button ,i was under the truck to see if the motor would turn,,it did not turn!!, motor no good, easy fix, new motor....ordered new one on line, shipped new day air...i put the new motor on,had a little difficulty getting it on, lining the triangle shaft up, got it on..,,.but nothing changed!!!...light on dash showing 4 normal, transfer case stuck in 4 low.....now i'm thinking it's the plastic fork issue...i had one more idea....i took the new case motor off and had my wife press the 4 hi lock button, to see if this motor was working, if it did , i knew the fork was shot...she pressed the button , the motor turned and stopped , and my wife said the light stayed on for 4 hi lock , ok, now i'm thinking...i had her step on clutch, press 4lo, the motor turned again and stopped, the 4lo light stayed on .....yep, i put he motor back on, it went on a lot easier now, started the truck, now since the 4lo light was on and it was still in 4 lo, i just pressed 4 hi lock, it went in, and then 4 normal it went back in...and it works perfect now.......the crazy thing that happened was that when i first tried the 4wd buttons , the motor worked getting the truck in 4lo, but the motor died right at that point, leaving it in 4 lo, but the computer still switched back to 4 normal, ....so it wasn't in sync...i had to get the new motor , connect the wire harness only, and then manually , with the buttons, put the motor in 4lo, to have that match the transfer case setting...since the motor only turns 3 steps in each direction, it could not turn any more in the wrong direction when i first put it on...so after syncing the motor ( dash lights) , to what the transfer case was in, 4lo....it worked...i thought it was just a freaky thing ,with the motor dying in 4lo, and the light not remaining in 4 lo, switching back to 4normal......a lot of you pros know this already, but with me and some others i thought this would help, so if anyone has an issue like this, you know what it could be......

You must have been absent the day your English teacher had a class instructing run-on sentences.

HOLY COW! A 6 speed manual I5 in an H3!

Must be counting reverse as a speed. I guess it is a speed just not a forward speed.

That's as far as i got with the post.

Whew....glad you kept that short!

As to why it did what it did...no clue. Perhaps the cold affected the internals of the TC.

The moral to a different short story is, you do not ever need 4LO to drive on snow covered roads.

Depends on the roads
Fire roads if you are breaking trail in 1 foot or higher snow and need to use your lockers... Oh yeah!

Or if you are pulling someone out...
