Post Steering Column Replacement...

I need my steering shaft replaced and my mechanic said it would end up being a better price if I get a salvage steering column and replaced the whole thing instead of paying him the time of taking apart the steering column, so my question is can I get a steering column from a different year or would they be dramatically different.

Thanks!
Nate

Find a new mechanic, or better, research steering shafts replacement and diy.

Steering column or steering shaft(and there are two shafts)?
Why do you need to replace it?

The upper shaft and lower shaft are both rusted out and not secure.

All H3's have same shafts, there was improvements after year 2007, if you go for originals.

Do it yourself! Lift front up a little bit, get rid of front left wheel and remove inner wheel plastic, remove bottom shield and go for it!

Do not forget to lock your steering wheel. Use tape, bands, special tools, whatever.

Btw, you don't get the needed steering shafts with a used H3 steering column.

Look here for more info: steering shafts

I know like the back of my hand. Still tight and drives like new.
