Default Spare Tire rack.

Hi, I'm new to the Hummer Forum. I just bought mine on Monday. 2006 H3 . The wheels on mine are Fuel Assault 17x9, -12 offset, tires are 35/ 12.50 R17 .. Question: The spare tire didn't get updated with the other wheels. So I'm looking to buy a wheel to have a matching set. The guy at Discount Tire said that with this big of wheel and tire it may not fit on the spare tire rack. So does anyone know if I need to have it modified or will it fit?

Thank you
Kelly

Seems like a simple enough solution.....take one of your wheels/tires off and try it.

Forget the spare, you need to get roadside assistance immediately.

You could also run oba on ur H3. Just remove a portion of air from spare tire, say 20-25psi and then when needed just use ur oba-on board air and fill it up.

There is no reason a 35" tire wont fit on the spare tire carrier in the back! I had 35s installed on 2 H3s myself. If for some reason it doesnt, you can remove the carrier itself and instal it upside down, will end up raising the tire to give more bumper clearance

amrg,

Thank your for your information. I actually saw on another Hummer H3 they had 35 12.50 on 20 inch wheel. I didn't see anything wrong with it. I think the guy at Discount tire is a jerk. It seem like every time I go in there I get the same guy.. I just don't agree with everything he tells me. I'm going to do. I just wanted to see what everyone's thought was on it and if it actually can be done.

Thank you
Kelly

That sound good but I don't have board air in my unit. I believe that may be just in the Hummer H2 only. Mine is a H3

Thank you,
Kelly

Just because you saw 20" RIMZ n the back of an H3 doesn't mean poop. You may have a different offset that that other person with RIMZ.
Take one of your RIMS off and try it on the back. Normally the Back spacing will be shallower on RIMZ than the OEM, so you should't have any issues.
But test fit one anyway.

amrg, She doesn't have the factory wheels. She stated that in her first post.

Sorry I didnt clarify, I have KMC 17x9 wheels -12 offset on the back of my truck with 35s (similar setup to OP). The spare tire will protrude outwards approx 2" fron the rear gate but no issues with the gate sheet metal, hinges or the carrier itself. Just looks weird being far back like that but Ive seen jeeps that looked much worse!
