Shifter Cable: How to separate lower half from top half?
I searched but didn't find this info anywhere.
My shifter cable bushing is shot. Since they're not available I bout the lower half of the cable planning to replace just that, but there's what looks like a copper colored snap ring holding the cables together. I've tried and tried to remove it or at least push it out of the way far enough to allow me to pull thr cable halves apart, but just can't do it. I've tried snap ring pliers, needle nose, tiny screwdrivers and a pick, but nothing works.
Any ideas? Anyone know the secret?
Thanks!

Didn't realize that was a link to the website. Thx for providing that.
I found a youtube video showing how to separate the cables. I just need to be s little more aggressive with it. It is just a snap ring like I thought.
