SERVICE STAB SYS message after replacing steering shaft
Hey all,
I replaced the intermediate steering coupling shaft yesterday which was going fairly quickly until the new shaft would not slide easily into the steering column sleeve so that I could bolt in place. To make a long story short, it got stuck onto the steering column sleeve and whe I tried to pull it back off, the steering wheel dislodged from the shaft within the column....ended up disconnecting all of the steering wheel harnesses to slide it back onto the shaft and then to slide the sleeve of the shaft back onto the intermediate steering coupling shaft. The steering is normal and nice and tight but I'm now getting a "SERVICE STAB SYS"...Am I going to have to take it to a dealership to get this corrected...this error didn't happen until this whole steering wheel ordeal... the truck is driving normally. I also put a new battery in today and still get the error...I replaced the shaft last night and got the error after test driving last night.
Thanks in advance!

well the thing is... there is no check engine light...only the traction control light symbol along with "SERVICE STAB SYS" message. I did scan it anyways and it shows 40 codes which I'm thinking will clear after driving a cycle....I think they are a result of the battery being disconnected. This error began last night after I put everything back together and reconnected the battery. I changed the battery today as, it would not start up today and had been acting flaky for the past few weeks in regards to starting up.
Sorry for the late reply. I just scanned again and under ABS diagnostics it does show C0710 - Steering position signal malfunction....
well I reset it and 30 sec into driving, the damned light came on....this is frustrating
