Running wires to rear storage in console
Hi All,
Putting an aftermarket radio in my Hummer H3.
I want to add a USB and 3.5mm Audio Jack into the rear console storage compartment. I took off the shifter and the upper half of the console.. Am I correct that the seats will have to come out to remove the lower half of the console? Has anyone run wires to the rear console storage compartment?
Thanks for any help
Chris

Thanks!!!!! I can get at those. I was worried about all the ones along the sides. They are represented in this diagram by black dots and not mentioned, but they are a row of Phillips head screws down each side.
I wanted to correct a few posts above, as this thread ends with an incorrect assumption. You cannot take the main center console body out without removing the back two seat bolts in each seat. Why? There are five screws and 8 body clips holding the main plastic console body to the steel support that cannot be removed, except from underneath, once the plastic and steel have been removed as a unit.
But, You do not need to remove the seats entirely... only the back seat bolts, so that you can rock the seats forward and slide the center console steel support out from underneath.
In this manner, you need only remove the top console cover, and I opted to remove the shift ****, rather than the shift boot skirt bottom, to get the top plate off and out of the way. Then remove the two 7mm screws in the front of the console body, loosen the 10mm nut in the center cavity (deep socket required) and remove the back seat bolts. Then, with seats rocked forward, pull center console up and back.
I'm having to do this now, so that I can remove my dash to replace my evap coil.
I know this thread is old, but many of us (like myself) refer to these threads, many years later.

You do not need to remove anything to run a wire/cable etc.. to the console storage compartment or rear thereof, all you need is a wire snake and some patience. Been there done that. Now the opening premise has been corrected.
Now this old dawg can RIP again.
