Replaced thermostat today what fun...
So I didn’t think about it when I could feel a little heat when I first bought the vehicle. So I didn’t think much of it until the snow started flying. I noticed the temp gage would stay around the 1/4 line. The cold mornings I would let it run for 15mins and it would be like warm and like wtf. So replaced the thermostat. Watch a video on YouTube and when I got the wheel well off the top thermostat bolt was a challenge to get out. Also to putting back in I dropped the bolt!!!!!!!! What a nightmare. Ending up finding it snagged behind the brake lines after changing my viewing angle whew!!!! Coolant was good so I just reused the coolant. Added a little bit more to the overflow. Now I have heat!!! I have burning heat!!!! The engine seems like it’s also running better.
Question - where exactly does the temp gage stay at mine is over the half mark and I think I have some air in the lines.
if I do how do you get it out?

Pics would help as well as to know which engine... Did my H3 with 5 cyl engine as well, not too long ago with the radiator. Had the "AC off" message, plus the rad leaking so it was an obvious thing to do. Temp gauge used to be between 1 quarter and 1 half before. Now runs a little over half consistently, but these things are notoriously inaccurate. No AC off message, been running great so far. Air in the coolant line is normal and will self-bleed after a while, keep extra coolant handy and top off as needed.

You are on top of it!
Most important is to be prepared, out with the old in with the new
Just to add, make sure to get a gallon of distilled water(not tap) to mix with= 2gallons.

Agree ! That eliminates the question. There are strong opinions for both distilled and just mineral free water mix. Hyperlube has probably done as much research on this topic than the auto companies.
