Hummer H3For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.
After a day in the desert doing some light off-roading, I noticed that this rubber bushing (circled) or whatever it is, looks like its falling apart. After checking online, I can't seem to figure out what part this is or what's involved in replacing it. Any help would be appreciated. thanks! Note this is near the front suspension (passenger side).
Thanks guys! So based on the diagram, it looks like that part (#54) is held by a single screw and should be fairly easy to replace, right? (or am I missing something)

#56 requires 4 bolts same part#. #54 has 1 bolt. You can buy the bracket with bushing or just the bushing.
They are sold together.
You will have to remove the CV shaft, which will require a lot of other parts to be removed. You will also need to support the differential while you remove the bracket.
Do a search for half shaft removal.
A bad diff bushing can lead to many problems.
Pinion seal leak, ring and pinion damage, CV shaft seals leaking, etc. Take care of it soon.
Not critical, but it needs to be addressed.
Every time you start, stop, reverse or accelerate you put undue stress on the drive train because the front differential is moving in excess.
