Please help! Am I getting screwed over or is this standard?
So in 5/29/2021 I made a submission on (a dealer's) website for more information on an LS3 engine swap for my H3 Hummer. I would say for the last two years before that I was looking for someone that had a good reputation and was knowledgeable on how to install an engine and transmission with more horse power on H3 Hummer.

> This whole idea came about from finding out in 2020, right when Covid started around February/ March my girlfriend of 5 days got a call from her doctor that she had breast cancer. I’m sure you heard on what a hardship that is. She had very aggressive type and had to get a double mastectomy. But it made me think so many places we hadn’t been too and life can be short. She has been doing very good no signs of cancer. But you hear the stories of how it can easily just comeback. So I wanted to built us a dependable road trip vehicle we could travel the whole USA maybe even to Alaska. With what I spent I could of got a new vehicle but I wanted a conversation starter. After you hear my story you will see I have regrets of my decision.

> After speaking with (owner) and asking important warranty questions and according to him he had done this type of work to 60 Hummers. I decided to go with experience. So in January of 2022 I decided to transport it to his shop from Fort Worth TX. I sent him close to $10K and was supposed to wire him the rest when job was finished for a total of $27412.50. One thousand dollars of transportation fees not included. If I remember correctly it would be a 45 day turnaround. To my surprise and excitement, I got a call from owner Mike Mash that it was ready in 35 days.

> I got it back in 2nd week of February. Had check engine light issues where initially he would text me or email me back with some help. But if the issue persisted I wouldn’t hear from him for long periods of time. Luckily issue cleared on its own and got my vehicle inspected for new tags. Things were good until I got time to take on a drive longer than 30 minutes. Around 50 minutes I got a loud warning alert that engine was overheating and the heat gauge was pegged all the way. Pulled over immediately and waited for 2 hours for engine to cool down enough to drive home. Luckily I was only 15 miles away and not enough time to get an alert but it ran very hot. Texted owner and got a response at some point and he said it could be the thermostat or some other sensor. I got emails him stating that he would pay a local mechanic to fix issue or take it back to his shop at his cost. He didn’t offer any of that and I’m kind of handy. I figured it would be a one and done issue and I would be back on schedule with my road trip plans. Boy was I so wrong. I was taking out electric fans and rewiring them
calling manufacturers trying to figure out what was causing the issue. Weeks were going by and I was stressing because I took a big chunk of my life savings and just flushed it down the toilet. I had art shows I was planning to display my art at and I wasn’t working on my art. I was too busy playing wannabe mechanic. I thought it was funny at the time but I would send him long texts when I was really frustrated complaining and giving hints about how we need an expert to work on it, not me. When he would finally respond he would not talk about the text. Like I never sent it. Didn’t complain that often but it was always the same, my complaints weren’t acknowledged. I’m a very patient person and always give the benefit of the doubt. Seems I get taken advantage more than I like to admit because of that.

> So finally I convinced him to take it back and fix the issue. I’m on month number 4 of my 6 month warranty at this time June 2022, and I been doing all the work. My girlfriend was so angry at the owner and probably at my patients with him too, but I don’t blame her. This whole time I only drove it for testing purposes and all test failed.

> and he will let me know when they are picking it up. Fast forward 2 weeks I’m still waiting and not surprised, by this time I know I got screwed over. I text him and he says I’ll get a different transport company. Even during Covid if I emailed a transport company I would get calls, texts, and emails for month multiple times a day. What Im seeing and been seeing, he got my money, I don’t matter anymore, definitely not a person worried about his reputation and least not yet. He was probably already on to the next victims.

> So finally on about the 4th week of waiting, he was probably waiting on the 6 month labor warranty to expire, the transport company shows up. So he claims he did some test and he thinks the AC condenser is clogged and that my custom bumper and winch are blocking air flow. So to solve the airflow issue he installed a ridiculously expensive air vent on the hood. Of course nothing that he is going to fix is under warranty and I’ll have to pay more. I’m not happy about that, he has terrible quality control. All this should of been done initially. So he is sure he fixed it and I shouldn’t have to do anything else. I try to feel some positivity, but it’s hard with how the whole experience has been. Also his engine warranty is NOT accepted by GM like he said it would before I gave him my money. As far as I know my engine transmission don’t have a warranty and wouldn’t know where to take it. So much for the 3yr/50K miles.

am I being screwed over, or are these problems normal?
I'm sick at losing all this money.

would have been cheaper to sell the i5 and get the alpha. then to deal with the headaches of conversion. wait till the electrical gremlins start and mike is the only one that can solve the issues as the installer of the harness is the only one that knows what does what and goes where.
conversions are best left to a vehicle owner that fully understands there vehicle and tackles the job themselves.

You are seeking advice here now? If you would have asked about your planned money spending spree, we would have told you LS engine swaps are easy.
First you sell the I5 H3, then you buy and H3 Alpha which has an LS motor in it from the factory. Done.

Anytime you have custom work done to a vehicle, you have created custom problems for yourself in the future.
You paid for an engine swap and it appears he delivered. He very well may have a warranty on his work, but the onus isn’t on him to get your vehicle to his shop for service covered under the warranty.
I hope everything works out for you in the end.

I’m sorry. I just keep rereading this thread and I have so many more questions. Hopefully you don’t mind answering to clear a few things up.
He sent you emails saying he would pay the cost to have someone fix it for you or have it sent back to his shop, but you are kinda handy so you try to fix it yourself? He then does take it to his shop to fix, but you feel he is ripping you off because you tried to fix it yourself first and it took too long?
How has it been running since he fixed the issue after you resolved the dead battery?
Who is the attorney representing you in the lawsuit? Who advised you to post this here?
