Opinions on this vehicle
Hey Folks, I'm looking at a 2007 H-3 (production date: 11/06). SEEMS like a pretty solid truck with some (... perhaps) minor issues (??).
1. The 'tire press low' light is illuminated ( tires inflation seems fine).
2. passenger rear view mirror does not move (I can hear motor running)
3. noticable 'shimmy' above 45 mph (quite possibly tire issue), but I've read about some front drive shaft problems (??).
4. Has a nice GOBI roof rack & a heavy duty brush bar/front bumper (aftermarket).
Anything I should be particularly concerned about for this year? It's a bse model, 3.7 w/ 5-speed (96K). They're asking 16K... here's a link to pics:

1. TPS may be bad in one of the wheels.
2. Cable may be broken or the mechanism may be unhooked. Would not really consider it a deal breaker. How often does one adjust the passenger side mirror? You can always adjust it by hand.
3. Have them rebalance the tires before you purchase. If it still shimmies, then have it checked further.
4. With the rack and bumper I would normally suspect it having been offroaded hard, but by the looks of those components along with the choice of wheels and white letter tires, it doesn't appear to have been abused. Check the undercarraige for verification.
Ordinarily I'd say the price would be a bit high for the year and mileage, but the accesories offset that to a degree.
On a personal note, I hate the wheels. Replace with some factory wheels and/or flip the tires around to blackwalls and hit the trails!

since they are not the oem wheels and tires, the tire pressure light shouldnt be a concern. On my stock 07, the dealers fix was to inflate the tires 5psi over what was recommended
Good looking h3 but i agree with the points made by XL.
Looks like the front bumper never had the winch mounted, but if there was a winch and removed, i would investigate further. Looks like a small irregular wear pattern on the inside of the front drivers side tire. Tires are not that old, and if there are wearing irregular when they are that new, could be an allignment or suspension issue.
Looks like the connection in the back was for a seven pin trailer hook up, meaning electric brakes and towing something heavy. Also could be for another electrical accessory, but i would check it out. If they were towing something that required brakes on the trailer, i would be leary

Thanks for all the great input!... I was kinda thinking the same thing... I do not like the wheels (too much 'bling' for my taste), also, concerned about any 'hard' off-road histroy too. I think I'd be more wise to seek out a lower mileage vehicle with a 'grocery-getter' background. Anything that I should pay particular attention to when searching? I found a very nice LUX edition (08), but it's an AUTO tanny. thoughts on that particular version? My thought was, with it out of production, I'm better off getting the most basic (manual) verion available... less to go wrong with manual seats, no sun roof, and 5-speed. Thoughts?
Get an auto unless you are set on a 5speed. The manual tranny in this thing sucks and is way undersized. I have a 5 speed currently and am looking at $1,100 to have the clutch replaced. I could spend the same money and have a bullet proof auto transmission built. The syncros are also junk in this transmission. They should have put a NV4500 in here.
The auto works really well (esp with PCM tune). With the 4:1 transfercase in the Adventure and automatic, just put in 1st low range, 1st gear automatic, and let the H3 putut-put-put up hills and go slooooow down them.
Spend the time and find the Adventure package with locker switch on dash. Stick with 2007's with 3.7 I5.

"'hard' off-road history" ...... Bwahhhahahahahaha
Its a poser. No UCP, no rock rails, no skids, (front a U Bolt) too much wheel, not enough tire, no locker, no winch.
To review a 4x4 off road history, get on the ground and look underneath, it is very easy to see whether it has been wheeled (how hard or what was broke and replaced is more difficult).
