Default Mpg

Just out of curiosity what kind of gas mileage is everyone getting? I find it funny how every hummer owner I've come across swears they get 18 to 20mpg. My 3.5L (60,000miles with new A/T tires with the optional size 275(?) i believe) gets about 14-15 mpg highway, all highway. My recently purchased 3.7L 2009 H3 (20,000 miles new aftermarket tires standard width and height) after the first tank got 14.1 mpg at about 95% Highway, with a very short time on a few city roads. I use cruise control and do not mash the pedal, the highway speeds are 70mph at which typically I drive between 70-75mph.

Getting from 16 to 18 with a lot of hwy driving on cruise. If I had to avg I would avg my mpg at 17. 2007 H3 55,000.

~14-15 sounds about right for the average bear. Remember, it all depends on where you live... elevations, climb, etc. I'm in SF which means I climb a lot of big city roads which isn't anything like driving on the plains in Kansas.

My mileage has dropped recently for some unknown reason. Last time I made the trip from TX to GA I averaged 19.5. I did the same trip three days ago and averaged 16.4. Both trips were done between 65-70 and mostly on cruise control. The only difference I can think of is that the first one was done in the summer with the A/C on and this last one was done in the winter with the heat on. Seems like the results should be reversed but they aren't.

I mentioned a few months ago that I averaged 16.5 pulling a loaded trailer from CA to TX. I figure I was getting pretty decent mileage until recently and can't explain the difference. I have an 07 Lux with 33s.

Normally, in the summer, 16-17.5. Winter 14-15. For the first 3 months I had my H3, I did get up into the high 18's but havent since then. I chalk it up to crappier gas although I still visit the same stations. Its no the greatestbut still wiithin a mile or 2 of what my Cherokee got and I'm alot happier driving the 3, so in the end it works out.

My commute to work alone is 500 miles/week and I would love something easier on gas but there is nothing out there that interests me much at this point. Sure some of the smaller Jeeps get maybe 22 on the highway but what you have to give up for the few extra mpg's just isnt worth it imo.

I agree completely, I will not complain about my gas mileage as I have purchased these hummers with the full knowledge of the actual gas mileage. I do not regret the extra money I put in each week (300miles) to drive them. I noticed someone posted recently that hummers are like tattoos once you get one you get addicted, I like that very true statement.

I have a 2007 H3 and recently put 17" tires and wheels on it. When the mileage was checked against my Garmin it was right on the money! The mileage is 13-14 in town and 16 on the highway, running 70 mph. I think the speedometers are off about 3 mph, roughly 1 1/3 gallon less every 100 miles.
