I just bought my H3 as a Christmas present to myself a couple of months ago. I bought it to replace my old Jeep Wagoneer. The Wag got about 7mpg around town, on the highway, fast, slow... no matter. I figured I would rather spend all that money on a newer and nicer vehicle than put it in the tank.

I bought an 07 Luxury Edition, all factory with 285 tires. The rating on the window sticker said 16 and 19. Perfect! Real world experience has been considerably less. I track all of my mileage and maintenance stuff in a program in my Droid. Since I bought her in December I am averaging 15.082. My last tank I averaged 14.767. My worst has been 12.744. It is certainly not as good as I hoped for but still a lot better than what I had. I can't figure out the fluctuation though. I am a very conservative driver. Sometimes it just seems to use more fuel than others.

I am going to try to open up the air intake and free up the exhaust a little. Then maybe try a reprogram and see if I can get up close to the factory numbers.

It's called aCar. I've had it for a long time. There may be an updated version now. I track 4 different vehicles in it. Here is the website.

far as i know,07 lux was stock with 265 tires.
if you have 285 without a recal on speedo it could affect your readings.
did u check odometer on measured mile or gps?

love them 07 lux, i had one, miss one!

From what I got from the Hummer literature 265 was standard but 285 was an option. I don't have a window sticker to know what mine came with. I guess I should check it with the GPS. This is all done using the odometer mileage.

Thanks for the idea. I'll check it out next time I go for a drive.

Oh ya...forgot to do this when I changed from 265 to 285's. Need to add 3.7% of the mileage which is roughly 10 miles on a tankful of about 280-300 miles total.

Much better...thought my mileage was really degrading with the new tires!

All I5 H3s regardless of year with 16" rims came with 265s. The ONLY OEM equiped I5 H3 with 285s came with the Adventure Package! No Rear Locker = No Adventure Package.

If you don't have the Adventure Package you will have to add the difference in rev per mile to your mileage calculations.
