Default Looking for opinions on upgrading brake rotors

Have a 2008 H3 Alpha with 30k, about due for front brakes. Wondering if anyone has opinions on either sticking with stock pads and rotors or going to a slotted or cross drilled rotors, powerslots, etc. Looking for feedback from people that have upgraded..Thanks

You always have options for aftermarket, however I would tell you to go with the GMPP Rotors, they are coated to resist fade and last longer than stock, but made of the same quality steel as stock...

Send theBroken an email he can get them for you and sent to your house... Are you handy? Installing them yourself will save you $$$ and the whole setup only takes an hour to do...

Unlike meny generations of previous GM trucks, the H3 has pleanty of brake right from the factory. I can't see where a 5800# truck needs cross drilled slotted rotors, unless you like eating brake pads at a rapid clip. My last GMC with cross drilled slotted rotors could keep even Tungston Pads for 30K.

BTW, my H3 is at 46K and still has a lot of OEM brake pad left up front?

actually the h3 is only about 4700 lbs, if that makes any difference. I have 54k on mine with plenty of life left

My bad. A bone stock empty Alpha has a curb weight of 4851#.

I was thinking about my truck, not a stocker. Doh?

My 07 with me in it in current trim weighs in at 6000# (real tires, UBP, U Bolt Skidz, BA Bumper w/ MM9500 Winch, RR Rock Rails and the usual inside stuff), and can still out run those skinny little tire stockers.

I stand corrected as well doc, because hardly anyone on the forum is running bone stock...plus if you add a couple passengers and some cargo most h3's are running close to 3 tons! I like it. Haha

Really...OEM brakes lasting that long?? I had an 07 that had to have brakes and rotors done at 32k. Had that from new. Picked up the 08 Alpha with 23k, was in the shop for leaking valve stem at 28k, they said will need new brakes in 3-4k miles. I'm not that harsh on my brakes but guess I will seek another opinion!
