I know there are multiple reasons your truck will go into limp mode, but in my particular case it was randomly starting in limp mode and would go away after a few cranks. I was on my way out of town this past weekend when it went into limp mode going down the highway and I was able to pull over, but this time would not come out of limp mode. Got her back home, and did a little research. I ended up changing the battery terminals and cleaning the post on the battery. Took the throttle body off and gave it a good cleaning with chemtool tb cleaner. Replaced all the spark plugs while they were accessible, and cleaned the pcv hoses. She's running better than ever now.

 

We had cold weather limp mode last 3 years (when weather in 20’s) and the fix was a new throttle body.
