I was thinking a 6.2l Supercharged v8 with an 6L90 transmission

Basically the LSA v8 from a Camaro ZL1

That's about 550hp..

If you were to do this swap on an Alpha, would you need to beef up the differentials and the transfer case?

Or what about a 6.4l hemi and an 8 speed transmission

Can you imagine an H3 with an 8 speed?

I know that any engine swap has a lot of obstacles.

I'd just like to hear your ideas/dreams on engine swaps for the H3.

Like what would you do ten years from now and had the spare cash for an engine swap?

 

unlimited money??, not a problem. otherwise with the electronics its not practical.
a guy added a supercharger at hugh expense.

 

You might as well rebuild the ENTIRE drive train if you would like 500+hp.
NONE of the stock components are designed to take the torque associated with that much HP.

Not sure what you would need it for anyway???

With as rare as the 09-10 Alpha OffRoad Package will be in the future that would be like taking a #s matching 1970 Chevelle SS 454 and dropping a blown 572, tremac 6 speed and 9" diff. in it. Why? You have just killed the value of the vehicle and it had enough power from the factory. Take a Malibu or regular everyday Chevelle and hack it up!
