Hummer H3For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.
New to this forum... not sure if this is the correct place to post??
2008 H3
I don't know if it was a coinsidence or not, but while I was resetting the engine oil life system on the dashboard-- my key wouldn't turn back to lock. So now it's been stuck fir the past 4 days. I took it to a locksmith and 3 guys came to the conclusion that it had to do something with my gear shift???
Also, I noticed today that it's not marking miles anymore (not counting miles on trip or total-- if that makes sense).
Turn the key to run, not start. Put foot on brake. Shift to reverse and back to park. If doors unlock key should come out.
When you say "run" do you mean in the "on" position?
I put key in on position (all lights in dashboard came on), foot on brake, shifted to reverse then back to park. The doors did unlock, however key will not switch all the way back to "lock" so that I can take out the key... it's as if the hummer doesn't recognize it's in park.
Take it to a mechanic to have the shift linkage fixed.
my husband checked out the steering wheel around the ignition switch and found out it is the ignition switch lock solenoid (see pic). He took it out and the key comes out. Does anyone know the purpose of this solenoid because after he took it off he was able to drive it without it.
If you have it in drive turn engine off and pull. It should come out. My understanding is it is to prevent you from doing that while driving down the road.
i have 2 jeeps that i can start and pull the keys while it warms up.i can open other stuff.
id like that in park in my h3, may try the solenoid
good info.
i already fixed the shift lock. shift with no batt,no brake,no nuttin !
