Default Key Fob only works when running

I have 2007 H3 Hummer and the have replaced the plastic shell on the key fob, the remote door lock and unlock now only work when the engine is running. As soon as I stop the engine after a few seconds the fob stops working.

Any idea how I can get back to normal without heading down the dealership

Thanks for the post, my problem is not with the buttons working, The lock and unlock work on the fob but only when the key is in the ignition and running.

Sounds more to me that it's the receiver (BCM) not the transmitter (FOB). When the key is on the receiver is getting power and when the key is off it's not. As long as the FOB has good batteries it's transmitting. You said 'after a few seconds it stops working', that could be the 'Retained Accessory Power' feature in our Hummers that allows it to continue working for a few seconds.

Answer to your question is: No. You may need more than a re-program, might need a new BCM programmed to the truck.

Have you had your H3 battery or prior batteries go dead for more than a couple times longer than a day or 2? You still using the crappy azzed OEM Battery Terminal Connectors?

The work around is to have an aftermarket remote start (with or without alarm) installed which includes new different fobs, which will also work at twice the original distance from the vehicle.

We went through the ordeal of the mother board stopped working in the cold and was replaced and re programmed along with lreplaced battery issue .

But we also replaces the driver side master power lock and the windows and locks have never worked properly. Driver side window foes down but not up and have to cycle around lock unlock to get the window backup but these issues were year ago
The key fob just started
