Default Just Bought A 2008 Hummer h3 Blown Motor

First off hi am new to the forums I am a mechanic but usually only work on Crhyslers, Ram Jeep ect I have built a few motors before but I know 100% nothing about hummers never even sat in one until today ahah what common Issues do these have? any preventive maintenance while I have it torn down?

I have a 2008 hummer H3 160k with the 3.7 5 cylinder the truck is really clean frame is solid ect. The trans is suppose to be a year old the current engine has a rod threw the block the owner gave me another 3.7 he was going to install but says he found out it had a spun bearing. I have yet to look into that ye If the motor is not fixable and I wind up needing another motor what motors will interchange?. I see some chevy colorados have this motor and someon told me a ISUZU or something?I usually try to buy wrecks when I need a motor ect so would be nice to know what other vehicles have this motor.

Hello. Hummer has 2 types of engine 3.7. 2007 and after 2007 Don't mix it up. You can determine by the presence of the exhaust camshaft sensor. The engine is simple but suffers from overheating of the 5th cylinder due to poor cooling. The thermostat is at the bottom. Eats up a little oil, but is not demanding on fuel quality (has a VVTI)

There is NO overheating problem within the block, the guy is in the ozone???????? Look for a 2008 or newer 3.7L out of a Hummer, Chevy/GMC or Isuzu.

So the second motor does indeed have 1 spun rod going to try to contact a machine shop see if they can fix it if not anyone know where to get a crank or bearings? appears no one has anything in stock except 1 place that thinks the crank is worth $1000 Lol.

Never thought It would be such a pain in the a## to find a crankshaft kit they use to be like $450 I have noticed that for some other vehicles lately guess things are just not being made..
