I still use my oem unit- factory installed with 6cd changer, and works/sounds great!
My only problem,

I don't have any cd's!

I would not put a 13-16 year old out dated "new" OEM head unit in my truck. The Nav Disc will be outdated day one. The Aftermarket options have more features, sound better, and are in fact new. Your cell phone integrates its map apps to the head unit and are always up to date. No trip to GM to activate needed.

Good luck.

Although it’s pretty cool and original to keep the existing oem head unit going or replace it with a outdated new head unit you can’t beat the head units they have today and most of them come with the connections for the hummers that all controls still will be working.
carplay is a awesome upgrade as you got access to your music library on your phone instead of CD’s and the nav apps on your phone that will never be outdated.
not to mention the collision apps out there as your onstar ain’t working in your vehicle.
The new collision apps do the same when your phone is connected to CarPlay.

I bought this thing.

Works AWESOME! Used a SEPARATE AHD camera ($20+ from amazon) and it's superior to the POS camera for the rear view mirror.

Ev

en added some steering wheel control buttons.
