Default How does one remove the radio from the dash?

I'm no slouch in the gearhead department but my expertise usually lies with vehicles that don't have a single metric bolt. Then I bought this H3...I've had many issues with the radio and cannot figure out how to remove it from the dash. Any and all help from you 21st century gearheads would be most appreciated.

Well, hopefully this help from an old gearhead will do it. It is easy, flip down the power outlet rubber covers, stick in two fingers and pull up an out on the metal surround. Go slowly and you will be ok. check this. http://www.gmhummer.com/forums/archi...php/t-462.html For added excitement, lick your fingers first and stickem way back in those outlets............he he.

LOL

It is a piece of cake, just remember, to remove it completely, you have to unplug the climate control wiring harness, the cigarette lighter/accessory wiring plugs, and the hazard light plug, all of which are fairly easy to do. You can even get away with leaving the accesory plug wiring plugged in, and just pull down the panel and slide your shifter between the stereo opening in the panel. It has to be one of the easiest vehicles out there to remove and replace teh factory radio.

Most of the dash components are held by push pin type connectors..no screws. I would suggest disconnecting the battery. I did this on my 2004 CTS. It was rather easy. I could remove it in less than 30 minutes.

I ordered a Helms Service Manual. You guys would be smart to buy one. $135 but the payback will come quickly!
