How do you level the rear?
Hi Group, I am on my second H3 since 2005. I love the vehicle since I am now on my 3rd retirement. Army, commercial A&D and consulting and fairly **** since I was in engineering.
The question is, how do you level the rear of the H3? I have the front perfect after 5000 miles at 23.5 “, however the rear is an inch off. I.E. 24.75 on the left and 25.75 on the right. I do mark a vertical line on the wheel flair using a level, measuring on a flat surface, from the middle of the H, as well as from the ground up and I am still an inch off on the rear.
Should I just lower the front right or raise the front left to get the rear level, or is there a way to level the rear? I like wrenching, but hate to go to far..
What is more important, front or rear level? Or, just stop being so ****?
TIA, Elliot

I am assuming when you say left you mean the drivers side, if you do mean that then your in luck for an answer, I found this to be the same issue when I leveled mine. Then I realized that the gas tank is on the drivers side. Many could argue that it has nothing to do with it, but one gallon of liquid supposdly weighs eight pounds. So with that said stop be so **** about it and run it.
Thank guys, I do just run it and I will stop looking at it. After the reply about gas, I checked it again on the same spot and with my tank being 1/4th down from yesterday, I have gained 1/4" on the left rear. I will wait until almost emply and take another measurement.
Thanks again, Elliot
Thanks again, Elliot
There was an old TSB on this very topic. Do a search here, we hashed it in several threads.
Nut shell: Losen the shackle bolts for the rear, get a couple friends to play bumper monkey or drive it down your street slowly and swerve back and forth to free free up the leafs at the shackles, then measure, and retorque.
