How do I remove the Hummer H3 Hood Louver?

"CONSEQUENCE: IF THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN WHEN THIS OCCURS, IT COULD STRIKE A FOLLOWING VEHICLE AND CAUSE INJURY AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE."
There would be a lot more injury and/or property damage to the following vehicle that tailgates me, when I decide to brake check them!

Open hood. Strike louver pegs sticking through the bottom of thr hood at the rear of the louvre with rubber mallet. Get fingers under rear of louvre and rip it off.
Do not plan on reusing the louvre so removed as it may end up in pieces.

My first one came off while going through a car wash. They are held on by plastic pegs, the adhesive they added in the recall isn't very effective. They actually lift up and break lose very easy.
