Default Hoping to buy an H3 soon.

Hello, I'm new to this forum and I'm hoping to buy an H3 soon.

I've considered quite a few trucks over the last couple months and have finally decided that a Hummer is just the vehicle to make me forget about everything else I've looked at. I think what it has to offer and how it makes me feel would make it a no regret choice. I test drove my first one today - loved it!

Anyway, the reason for my post is that there one about 100 miles from me that seems quite dressed up. As I search around the country I kept seeing exact clones of it and made me wonder how this could be. Then I discovered it's the desert orange metallic H3X version and they all seem equipped identically. The car lot has it listed as a Base.

My cash budget has me limited to what's in the cookie jar and I need to find a deal to make this happen. I really don't want just a base model.

This one is an '07 with 147k with an asking price of $12800. I'm no stranger to picking up high mileage vehicles, any reason to hesitate on this one because of the miles? Assuming the condition is as good as they say, what would be a fair offer? Btw, their asking price already makes it one of the best deals in my area, but then of course there's those high miles.

Looks just like the attached pic.

Thanks, I really appreciate any feedback.

Sorry for the triple post. Stupid error on my part. Let's call this the real one and I hope the moderators can trash the other two.

Don't dis the base models, they are quite capable. You have 3 basic trims- base, Lux and Adventure/OffRoad. BUT, you can get a Lux w/offroad pkg or a base w/Lux pkg options or all 3 rolled into one. Better to look at it like this- do I want the 3.5, the 3.7 or a V8? Do I want to offroad it? Get the Adventure pkg. If you prefer leather, sunroof, a monsoon stereo and chrome get a base or Lux that catches your eye. Since you could mix and match the 3 option packages thats what it boils down to. Mostly just find one that catches your eye and modify it to be your own.

That price sounds about right for the year and mileage. If its in solid condition then go for it. Most dealers don't know the difference between models so there are deals to be had. I like the H3X but would immediately sell the spare tire cover and grill guard and find a round tube grill guard and roof rack.

The H3x I originally mentioned was sold last night.

To answer TAINTER's questions...

First question: what do you want an SUV for?

Mostly as a daily driver, although I work from home and only drive about 8k/yr.

2nd Question: will you wheel it?

No, not really. I make several trips a year to some wooded property where I often need to dive through muddy rutted trails, but that's about it.

3rd question: what area of the country do you live in?

Minnesnowda - I'm out in the country and snow is a big deal around here... lots of it!

I prefer leather and like the chrome, so the Lux package would be nice. As you can see from my answers the Adventure package would be an over-kill.

Thanks

You wouldn't notice the Adventure pkg differences in normal daily driving but offroad you really be glad you have them. Just find one that speaks to you and pick it, regardless of which official model it is.

I'd stick with an H3X or H3 with the Lux package.

I like the factory chrome also and I wheel our junk too. Some say "chrome won't get you home". My reply is "black don't get you back either, it's what spares you carry".

Yeah, I love all the extra goodies the H3X comes with. Very dressy!

I actually hot on the trail of another X. This one is Boulder Gray and instead of the monochrome grille, it's chrome with no brush guard. This one is 400 miles away and looks to be a good buy if I can get the deal coordinated.

What are those two spaces just to the left of the power outlets on the dash for?
