Unhappy Help: 08 H3 Alpha GPS Screen won't open

Hello all. I have had my H3 Alpha for about 11 years now. It came with the OEM GPS. About one or two years ago, the unit occasionally had difficulties in reading the map DVD. It got worse and worse and finally it shows "CD Error" permanently. I tried to retrieve the DVD by pressing the Eject button for 10-12 seconds to open the screen, as I did successfully before. But now I only heard some mechanical sounds for about 3 seconds and nothing happened. So my disc is trapped inside the unit and there is no way to get it out. Spent a lot of time googling the problem on all GM cars' forums while no luck. Will be high appreciate if anyone can help! Really love my H3 and hate to see this happening. Thanks!

You lost me at "about one or two years ago".
Seriously though you need to replace the disc or the unit.
In the meantime, did you try battery disconnect, and all procedures posted online to remove the disc?
There is a way to remove the disc with tape and use a cleaning disc to clean the lens, yet your disc could still be worn out, requiring replacement. Also the unit could be worn out requiring replacement.
