Default Headers for my H3

Howdy, is anyone running headers on there H3, I got a 09, and thinking of getting header for my 09. I'm thinking of ordering headers from JTR, anyone use JTR? I'm going to get my pcm tune, and some other little things. Thanks for any help I can get.

Are you talking I5 or V8?

There are/were a couple guys that put a header on an I5. Most had to deal with a CEL issue so you might want to pick a brand that has an extra O2 bung port so you can move the O2 sensor to see which one works the best to avoid any CELs. Personally, I would not bother until the OEM exhaust manifold cracks or breaks a head fastener. At that time, since you have to deal with it, may be worth the effort. When you remove the OEM, plan on breaking off at least one fastener and be prepared to do what it takes to remove it from the aluminum head.

The OEM exhaust is very efficient except for the mini pup Cat, so adding a header ain't what it was back in the day.

My old 07 Adventure had and Air Doc Intake with AFE Filter, PCMofNC tune, PP Throttle Body, PCMofNC Efan conversion and MagnaFlow Cat back. Might have added a MagnaFlow header if the OEM exhaust manifold had an issue, which they are known for, just like the OEM radiator fails. Ended up adding a CRS Aluminum Radiator when the OEM leaked. I don't think a header was going to do anything more with those mods. It ran strong, zero issues. Sold it last year when I found my 09 Alpha Off Road.

Thank you Doc, was just wondering on the headers. My 09 sounds pretty good for stock exhaust, hard to believe it's a 5 cylinder, Im just trying out different things to do. I read where I would have to weld o2 bung for my vehicle. I like the throaty sound with the right exhaust, not loud. I plan on my my pcm tuned, and air intake. I like to get Alpha, but not giving money to a gouger. Have a great day Doc!

My buddy had headers installed for 1 month before removing them due to problems with the police (too loud). He got a good bump in power, would keep up with my Alpha up to 50 mph in full throttle. But to get that power meant he needs to rev above 3.5K to redline, this means completely changing his driving style as most Hummer drivers drive below that range. I recommend an efan as a start in terms of an advanced upgrade, the truck will be peppier off the line and you dont need to be up their in rpms to make use of it.
