Hummer H3 For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.

Has anyone bought the $69 chips that are on this page

I get 15mpg with no tune anyway, and it sure would be nice to.have better pickup, this thing is a dog on onramps, is it detrimental to the transmission you Think? Any drawbacks? I'm not within warrenty so this sounds like a good first mod and cheap.too. Is there an actual hp increase?

It feels like a big boost to me, probably the better shift points. Going onto an on-ramp, I punch it and it revs to 6500 and has plenty of juice for me.

A PCM tune in a bone stock H3 is 10-14HP and TQ. A significant advantage with the Auto Trans is shift point management, and you can select the shift firmness in your order sheet (I have the firmest shifts and took out the Rev limiter as well). This keeps you in the power band longer, and increases the kick down point in a passing situation. The only time you would place any additional stress on the trans is at WOT, and those stresses would not be any different that operating at WOT with the stock tune, and one could argue that by selecting firmer shifts there is less likelihood of slippage (the trans slaps directly into the next gear instead of easing into it at high rpm).

If you are going to do other performance mods, do those first, then order your tune set for those other mods, like an intake, CAT back, Port Polished TB, add an Efan conversion any time with the 06/07.

Also, no top speed governor anymore and passlock signal from bcm is ignored on mine.

Good input, think I'll do a cai first with that said and put the pcm in during summer when I have the Camaro also on the road and skip the core thing.

I would not trust any $69 chip claiming that kinda craziness!! Just go with the pcmforless tune it will give you the most bang for your buck. I have the 3.7 I-5 engine, with a K&N intake, ported throttle body, hummer parts club long tube header, pcmforless E-fan kit and pcm tune. Its a night and day difference!

As I've learned the hard way recently with a leveling kit... If it sounds too good to be true... It probably is!!!

Can anyone please elaborate on the PCM tune.
What exactely is done and how.
If I live out of the states, how can this be done via mail order?
Is it like Chip tuning?
