I have a bit of a problem here in that I have a set of the "bright" roof crossrails that a client is willing to let me have if I can get them off his H3 before he sells it but he is missing the key. No dealers seem to know anything about having one cut and the locksmith didn't know how to cut one either. It says "sp1" on the lock cylinders and the guy at the dealer said the keys are numbered sp1 - sp5 but showed no stock anywhere. I need this key within 24 - 48 hours before this truck gets delivered so if anyone knows how I can get these keys cut asap I would be forever grateful.

ps. in researching this I saw a post somewhere that I could use a VW gas cap key and have it cut with the code but the locksmith didn't know what I was talking about - anyone know anything about this?

Maybe your locksmith can go and pick the locks to get the racks off?

 

First guy we called said he couldn't do it without trying to disassemble the entire end caps and wasn't sure he could do it. I have a call in to a different guy now. Sucks as I am getting these for FREE if I can get them off before tonight or tomorrow morning. If I can't I'm out of luck.

 

I too, agree that a locksmith is your best bet
I had a similar situation where I wanted to remove a Yakima rack and the owner had no key.
A locksmith had it unlocked and removed in minutes.
Our H3 cross over bars even use a similar key to the Yakima system

 

Last time I was at Bellevue Hummer (Bellevue, Wa.) they had a whole drawer full of these keys. I'd look them up and see if they can help you. Don't expect a deal though- they wouldn't throw in the key for the roof rails when I bought my Hummer from them. I think they use the key sales to maintain their beer fund.

 

They look generic. I don't know if they are all the same, mine are. I have like 6 or 8 of them. You can private message me if you think one will work and I can mail one.
