Im feeling you HumV, that thought crossed my mind too as I have been changing quite a few parts on my 3. But I just take it for a drive around town and it makes me feel better. Nice thing is that they are easy problems to fix, fairly cheap parts, and we have this awesome Forum to refer to for help!
