Question Engine noise

Ah, the joys of a 13 year old vehicle, lol. '06 H3, 185K miles.

My engine has begun chirping in the past week or two. I've uploaded a video that picks it up fairly well.

It's definitely related to the rpms, as I accelerate, the cadence of the chirping pics up, as I let off the accelerator, it slows down. It seems to be picking up in how regularly it happens, but still comes and goes a bit. Seems to happen more when the engine first starts and frequently subsides after it's been running for 5-10 minutes.

Any thoughts on what it could be? Serpentine belt? Water pump? Something else?

TIA.

I did not listen to your sound bite. Instead of recording that, you could have opened the hood, start the engine when cold, look and listen. When was the last time the belt was changed?

8 times out of 10, gonna be the belt and/or belt tensioner pulley. The I5s also have an idler pulley, they also can wear and start to squeak/chirp.

Thanks, very helpful. It hadn't occurred to me to look and listen while I was recording the sound bite...
