2003-2009 HUMMER H2

All engines require oil to lubricate and protect the load bearing and internal moving parts from wear including cylinder walls, pistons and piston rings. When a piston moves down its cylinder, a thin film of oil is left on the cylinder wall. During the power stroke, part of this oil layer is consumed in the combustion process. As a result, varying rates of oil consumption are accepted as normal in all engines.

Oil Consumption

The accepted rate of oil consumption for engines used in the vehicles referenced is 0.946 liter (1 qt) in 3200 km (2000 mi).Models:

Looks like it only effects the 2.7L..lmao

I know my '08 3700 does'nt burn any between oil changes every 3k..

I think he meant LLR 3.7L?

Mine does not burn any oil at all, and I do not change it until the oil life monitor system triggers and says it is time to CHG OIL at something like 7600-7900 miles. I use Mobil 1 Synthetic.

5W-30, just like the manual and oil fill cap say to use.

Too much confusion, I dont think he meant .400 ml,that is 4/10 of one milliliter just a few drops. If he really meant 400 ml,almost a half quart,it is a lot, but who knows why?,not me.
Could be that funny "pcv" hose assembly??,thats not really a pcv valve!

Looks like this thread has been dead for about 6years, but I'll post anyhow...
Logged in to see if anyone else was burning oil.

I just turned 110K mi
12 years since i bought it new in sept of '06

I'm burning about a qt every 3500 mi.
CA all its life.
I change the oil every 5K

I'm fine with that consumption after 110K

Mine burns oil, 2006 H3 just hit like 93k. It’s not on the ground but I also do not see any smoke out of tail pipe or any in the coolant bottle etc. A few times when I went long on the oil change and when I would come to a stop and hard braking the ding and light would flash after that time I had to add about a whole quart. Most of the time I don’t go so long between changes but still have to add a quarter up to a half depending. I think it’s just inherent in some of the engines.
