Default Difference in 3.5L and 3.7L valve cover?

I need to replace the valve cover on an 07 H3 3.7L, I am finding tons of 3.5L valve covers but nada for a 3.7 thats new. Anyone know if the 3.5L would fit? They appear to be identical.

Thanks

Hello Jonwood, and welcome to HF.

Since I suffer from CRS (Can't Remember Sheet), I am not going to commit one way or the other. I do believe there is a Thread or two here where somebody did use one, but the details escape me and I am not going to look it up. Search it out and let us know what you find out. Maybe somebody else will pitch in and help.

Not according to https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/, it shows diff P/Ns, though the Application says "3.5L, 3.7L." for both of them.

Buy both styles a test them for fit. That will be useful to all H3 owner's.

Well, they are not interchangeable.... The 3.5L has different shaped spark plug wells than the 3.7L so there is no way for the gasket to seal, and the 3.5L is plastic, not aluminum. The other difference is the 3.7L uses a smaller VVT wheel so that is likely to cause issues as well.

Not the same look to me? The 3.7L uses integrated cups that allow for the spark plug wells to seal, the 3.5 has none. I asked a customer of mine who has been driving Chevy Collys for a while and he says without a doubt, they do not interchange as I mentioned.

I have never tried so I am relying on a trusted source. If you want to give it a go, have at it.

OP asked "Anyone know if the 3.5L would fit?" If it fits, mods required.
