Just back from dealer where bcm could not program remote. They charged 70 for an hour of their time. Is the bcm bad? They wanted 140 more to diagnose and I said no and left.

where do I go from here? Will an aftermarket work with bad bcm?

 

That stealership has issues.

Contact GM for resolution.

 

Only need 2 minutes to program rke with a tech2.

 

Yes that’s what I thought. They tried three different remotes but bcm would not work to sync

 

Are the remotes OEM or aftermarket?

 

As I said in another thread, early I5s have issues with communication with OEM or aftermarket key fobs. It is a long story, but the BCMs do not age well.

The work around is super easy. Forget the key fob, they don't do chit other than lock/unlock your doors.

Get an aftermarket remote start with alarm and have it installed by a reputable shop that knows what they are doing. This would NOT be a big store that has a yellow BB label name.

It is a one wire tap, lock/unlocks and remote starts. Problem gone. Range and function much better.
